September 7 - Thoughts from Katherine

Thoughts from Pastor Katherine

September 7th

Happy Labor Day from First Christian Church McKinney!

Let us celebrate the hard work that has kept our society and our world together now more than ever. Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. In 2020, I think we have come to appreciate even more the essential workers who keep our lives functioning as normal.

We’ve realized how important grocery store workers, nurses, teachers, public servants, daycare workers, restaurant workers, delivery drivers, and so many more people who keep our world functioning and thriving. I know I couldn’t have possibly named them all! Nursing home workers, bus drivers, pharmacists!  More than ever, we see the ways in which the work of others give strength to the well-being of our society.

Thank you to everyone who has labored for your neighbor. Thank you to everyone who has cared for the people around you. Thank you to everyone who gives of themselves to others.

Today, let us stop and give thanks. May we stop and pray for the safety and health of those laboring.  May we never take the work of others for granted.
