June 2 - Thoughts from Rev. Katherine
Thoughts from Pastor Katherine
June 2, 2020
Happy June to you! We have so much to thank Pastor Fred for, including the success of his daily “Thoughts” so in his honor we are going to continue doing so for this transitional time. For June, we are hoping that we can get some guest writers (let me know if you are interested) as well as including prayers for the day. We really love staying connected with you this way, we hope you do too.
Sometimes in prayer, we do not have the words to say what we want to say. But, God has the power to know what’s on our hearts. God knows when we are celebrating our joys or when our hearts are breaking. I remind the youth that Jesus himself said that prayers did not have to be long or fancy. When you find yourself at a loss for words, God is there to still listen even when there is nothing to listen to.
As we continue to live in the week that follows Pentecost where the Holy Spirit breathed life into the Church. This passage from Romans today reminds us of the Spirit working in our lives and in our hearts.
Romans 8:26-27 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. 27 And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
