Jan 20th - Thoughts from Peter
“I know who you are, you are the Holy One of God.” Mark 1:24
This exclamation comes from a man who is out of sorts and in a position of desperate need. His cry out to Jesus interrupts the temple service and captures the attention of everyone nearby. In addition to all the onlookers, Jesus, too, fixes his heart and mind on this man. We don’t know his name or his particular diagnosis. We don’t know if he was a sabbath regular or an occasional attender. We don’t even know what his response was to being zeroed in on by Jesus. The one thing (and most important thing) we know about this man is that he cried out to Jesus and Jesus was there.
On Sunday in worship, we will examine this passage and how we can take heart to cry out to Jesus, too. Between now and then, open your Bible to read Mark 1:21-28 and imagine Jesus, full of grace, zeroing in on your cry to him.
